The length of the Jordanian flag is twice as long as its width, and it is divided into three equal stripes. The top one is black, the middle one is white, and the bottom one is green. On the left side of the flag is a red triangle with a base equal to the width of the flag and a height equal to half its length. In the middle of the triangle is a white, seven-pointed star with an area that can accommodate a circle with a diameter of one-fourteenth the flag's length. The star is positioned so that its center is at the intersection of the lines between the triangle's corners, and so that the axis passing through one of the vertices is parallel to the base of the triangle.

Meaning of the colors of the Jordanian flag
The Jordanian flag contains black, white, and green colors and a red triangle with a seven-pointed star. Each element has its own meaning:
- The red indicates the Hashemite rule, as they considered it the color of nobility and heroism, and this was during the Great Arab Revolt. The red triangle connects the other three colors, so it is an important element and shows the status of Hashemite rule;
- Black symbolizes the color of the Abbasid flag and indicates the period of their rule;
- White color indicates the period of the Umayyad state;
- Green is the symbol of the Fatimid state;
- The seven-pointed star inside the red triangle indicates the seven verses of Surah al-Fatiha. A sura is a chapter in the Qur'an, which has a total of 114 surahs, each of which consists of ayats (verses).
History of the Jordanian flag
Until 1916, Jordan was part of the Ottoman Empire, and the flag of the country was the Ottoman flag. From 1916 to 1921, the flag of the Great Arab Revolt was used, which was the flag of the Kingdom of Hijaz.
From 1921 to 1928, the current flag was used only without the star. It was also used in Hijaz before its unification with the Najd, in Iraq in the early days of the Kingdom of Iraq in 1921, and in Palestine today.
In 1928, a star was added to it, and it became the official flag of the country from that time until today (except for the period in 1958 for a few months).
In 1958, a new flag was adopted for the federal entity between the Kingdom of Iraq and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, which was called the Arab Hashemite Union. Its design is identical to the modern flag of Palestine in terms of colors and shape. The Hashimites also used it before in the Hijaz, but the adoption of this flag was made only for a very short period, as the union lasted only a few months as a result of Abdel-Karim Qassim's revolution against the monarchy and the proclamation of a republic in Iraq in July of that year, so the previous flag was returned to before the declaration of unity.
