Throughout its history, the flag of Honduras has changed several times, although its design has remained conceptually unchanged - three stripes of blue, white and blue. In 1823, Honduras used the flag of the United Provinces of Central America. The flag of Honduras in 1839 consisted of a tricolor without additional signs and symbols. The dark blue color of that time was different from the modern blue.
In 1866, the design was changed. This flag was very similar to the modern one, except for the arrangement of the stars - in '66 they were closer together. There was also an alternative version of the flag where the five stars were arranged in a semicircle. These two versions existed until 1898, after which a new flag was introduced, with yellow stars instead of blue.
This flag was used until 1949, when the current flag design was adopted. The first use of the modern flag dates back to 1866, but the arrangement of the stars was different then, so it would be more logical to give the primacy to the 1949 flag, as it differs from the modern flag only in the shade of blue, which was changed in 2022, and this flag was used longer than the others - 74 years.
